When it's time to visit the doctor, Tala hides for fear of the injection. Jad tries to convince Tala to go to the clinic and calm her down. How will Tala handle the situation at the clinic? And is the injection really that scary?
Parents and Teachers Guide
On the day of her doctor's visit, Tala hides for fear of the vaccination, but Jad convinces her to go to the clinic in his own way. At the clinic, Tala's fear returns, but the doctor draws Tala's attention to the balloon chart hanging on the wall and asks her to count them. In the process, she gives her the vaccination, but Tala doesn't feel it at all. Later, it is Jad's turn to get the vaccination, and it turns out that he, too, is afraid of the vaccination needle. Tala tries to ease his fear by following the same method as Jad and the kind doctor.
Through humor, the story prepares children for what to expect when visiting the doctor and reduces their feelings of fear.
For discussion:
* Why do we visit the doctor? Is it possible to go to the doctor's office without feeling sick? Highlight the reasons for visiting the doctor (treatment, regular check-ups, vaccinations, etc.)

* Why did Tala hide under the bed? How did Jad convince her to go to the clinic? Highlight the use of dialogue and persuasion techniques and their importance when dealing with others.
* Did Tala feel pain when the doctor gave her the vaccination? Why do you think that was the case? Draw the child's attention to the doctor's cheerful spirit, which helps to comfort others.
* What qualities do you admire in the pediatrician you visit? Children can be given the opportunity to describe the doctor's appearance and the way he or she treats them.
* What tools does the doctor use? The child lists some tools and explains why they are used.
* Why do we get vaccinated? Are there diseases we can prevent? What other ways can we help prevent diseases?
* Why is health one of the most important blessings to preserve? Encourage your child to mention other things they feel are essential in their life.
